Video Game Reviews of LEGO BatmanCustomer Review: Gotham is going to pieces Summary: 4 StarsLet's face it, if you played LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones, you are going to play LEGO Batman. The SW game is simplistically fantastic, the IJ game holds its own and provides lots of gaming hours. Batman is a fun game but far far too short and easy. You get 3 Episodes of 5 Chapters each for the Heroes and Villians. You have to complete the Hero Episodes to unlock the opposing Villian Episode. In the story mode of Hero side, you are only Batman and Robin but throughout the chapters you may need to use their alternate suits. The Villian side, you play Riddler and one of four others for each chapter, same with Penguin and Joker. In story mode, the Villian side is much funner to play. Free play on either side is still the way to go and the vehicles are awesome. The best unlockable features are all from the Villian side as the Hero line are Batsuit upgrades.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is only Batman based characters. The only other Heroes you get to be are Batgirl and Nightwing outside of 'civilian' good guys (Com. Gordon, Alfred, Bruce Wayne). The Villians have a great variety.
Overall, despite some glitches and a few bad camera angles and one terrible vehicle access spot (Penguin harbor area) this game holds its own. Great music score based off the Danny Elfman themes too. This game would have been much better had LEGO and WB been able to work a deal to use the Justice League to include more heroes and locations.
Customer Review: Maybe the Best Lego yet? Summary: 5 StarsSo after about 27% of the gamne completed (that means about 11 levels) me and my Son (5 yrs old but a Lego console game veteran) are pretty well convinced this may be the best Lego venture yet.
Star Wars, and especially the complete series version was amazing, and Indiana Jones was awesome but had some issues mainly with polish and at times very frustrating bugs with the controls. Batman seems to have gotten alot of stuff right. The variation with the different suits is just as remarkable as the character skills. Characters that I thought would be boring (Poison Ivy for instance) are tons of fun.
I'm a pretty big Batman fan, especially the Animated Series and this really lives up to the spirit of the Aanimated stuff. The levels look absolutely awesome. The fact that you can play entire chapters as the Heroes, then replay those levels from the perspective of the villains is amazing, not to mention it makes what would be a 15 level game into a 30 level one. (and probably more) The Villain levels are substantially different, yet familiar also, not just a total re-hash/walkthrough of the Hero levels.
Now, we can only hope that the folks who worked on this will make Lego Harry Potter. (PLEASE)
Customer Review: Another solid Lego family game! Summary: 5 StarsMy son and I have greatly enjoyed the gameplay and humor in this Lego game. We have also enjoyed the Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones, but this one is our favorite. Hopefully we will see a Lego Spiderman effort in the future.
Customer Review: Not for everyone. Summary: 2 StarsTo sum it up quickly, if you are not into the Batman universe as much as Star Wars or Indiana Jones dont expect to like this game as much as your first 2 experiences. The game does not offer online co-op, I played for about 4 hours and have experienced as many glitches in which the game froze or I had to restart the level (no doubt they'll be a patch out soon though). Expect the game to jump around from plot to plot, as it does NOT follow any specific movie, sitcom, or comic plot. All negatives aside if you ARE into all of the Batman-ness then there's no doubt you'll love this game. If I were you, I would borrow the copy that you convinced your friend to buy.
Customer Review: Lego game, finally different Summary: 5 StarsI'm a big fan of the Lego games like StarWars and IndianaJones,
as you might know the two metioned titles play themselfs a lot alike which is kind of anoying, the great thing about Lego Batman is that LucasArts wasn't involved, finally we have more possiblities and got rid of the linear lvl structur. The game DOES NOT follow the movies, more like the characters with small references to the movie. It is a bunch of fun though, for kids as well as me 20 yrs old college student. Great game for fans as well as no-batman fans
