Video Game Reviews of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

Customer Review: GRAW2 Holds Up Well!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a good game to play while waiting for the latest holiday hot titles, but was not sure how much I would enjoy playing a game from early 2007. But for $15 I was willing to take a chance and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed GRAW2.

Yes the graphics are a bit dated by today's standard, but not so much so that you cannot enjoy the excellent game play. I typically do not enjoy squad-based games where you can get bogged down watching out for, and giving orders to, your computer-generated team mates, but the controls in GRAW2 were so simple it did not detract at all from the experience and in fact made it more enjoyable than many other FPS'. Your teammates will still occasionally step into your aim and their comments are a bit repetitive, but overall it enhances the game and they often play a valuable role when deployed well.

I have read other reviews that noted a delay between squeezing the XBOX control trigger and the shot on screen and I experienced the same. It is only a second or two but enough to be annoying and something that you will have to learn to compensate for.

Minor gripes aside, this is a fun, accessible game with satisfying game play and a compelling story line. And for the price, it just cannot be beat.

Customer Review: Good Game
Summary: 4 Stars

The GRAW games are great games, and fun for online multiplayer, but lack something that would have made the game far better in my eyes. Co-Op campaign mode. You can replay missions together (online), but, can not play the campaign through with a friend from beginning to end. That is my only complaint with this title.

Customer Review: I do not at all care for the "co-op" mode in this game
Summary: 3 Stars

This game advertises itself as a local system co-op game. That is confirmed on the official xbox.com website as well. However, when you get the game and pop it in with your buddy sitting next to you ready to play, get ready to be disappointed.

The "co-op" mode for the game is NOT, I repeat NOT the single player campaign. They cannot start the game with you, and they cannot drop in and play with you like Halo 3 or Gears of War or any of the other games which got co-op play RIGHT. Instead, you have to navigate into the "multiplayer" menu option, and find the co-op "game mode" and that is what it is, a game mode. You basically get a few missions you can play with your friend which are similar to the campaign, but not the campaign at all.

For a game advertised as supporting local play co-op, I think that is a little disingenuous. Yes, it does support local play co-op but not the way you were probably expecting it does. The actual play mode itself plays fine, but it was not what we wanted. The game itself, in single player mode, is a lot of fun and we enjoyed trading off levels playing it (AKA old school co-op).

So, buyer beware, this game supports local play co-op but in a weird way that is NOT the campaign. Overall, it is still a fun game though.

Customer Review: Deserves 5 stars, but still a few things....
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, this is a great game. In fact, after playing the first one (which I was not much a fan of) I was thrilled with this one.

Graphics- nice looking, cool effects with bullets whizzing by leaving a smoke trail (oddly reminding me of GTA Vice City). The actors are very nicely done, with good detail even though you never get close to almost anyone under normal circumstances.

Gameplay- I played this game first by doing co-op with my friend, and I loved the multiplayer game mechanics; but for singleplayer, it had some problems. There was the sluggishness of singleplayer controls; it feels like you are controlling the character, not being him, as in when you pull the trigger on your controller, it takes a sec before he can squeeze off a round, so setting up a shot is useless, since he does it anyway after you pull the trigger. That was the main error, otherwise, playing GRAW2 is very enjoyable. The ability to just get more accurate aim without using the scope on scoped weapons is nice.

All in all, this is a good game, that is most rewarding when played with a friend on coop though.
