Video Game Reviews of Mortal Kombat vs. DC UniverseCustomer Review: Clash of the titans Summary: 4 StarsWhen Midway first unveiled Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe, I thought it was an elaborate joke. Turns out the joke was on me, as the game quickly shaped up to be something quite different indeed, as familiar faces from Midway's massively sucessful Mortal Kombat series unite with superheroes and supervillains from the pages of DC comic books. The end result is pretty much a standard Mortal Kombat game, but that isn't such a bad thing, and as a whole, Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe is a blast. On the Mortal Kombat side of things are fan favorite fighters like Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Shao Khan, Baraka, Sonya, Kitana, Jax, and Kano; while the DC side offers up Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Lex Luthor, The Joker, Darkseid, Catwoman, Captain Marvel, and Deathstroke. Seeing all these characters together in one game is brought to you by a goofy story from comic writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, but what's really surprising is how good the DC characters manage to mesh in with the MK universe. The fighting system is rock solid, the game looks and flows spectecularly to boot, even if the violence level has been noticeably (and expectedly) toned down. There's smooth online play as well, which is a big time plus as well. All in all, Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe isn't without its flaws, but the game is a sheer blast regardless, and is definitely well worth your time.
Description of Mortal Kombat vs. DC UniverseWhen a cataclysmic force merges conquerors from two universes, conflict is inevitable. Kombat forces friends to fight, worlds to collide, and unlikely alliances to be forged. In order to save all they know, the heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat must wage war against the combined might of the DC Universe (DCU). How can either side prevail when rage blinds them to the dark threat poised to destroy them all?
The game's dark, realistic tone is created through the collaborative partnership of top comics writing team Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (Countdown. Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters) along with veteran Mortal Kombat team members You have the ability to choose sides, challenge friends and take the fight online
