Video Game Reviews of Xbox 360 Pro Console 20GB [Old Version]

Customer Review: Great system but with some flaws
Summary: 4 Stars

Pros:
- Huge library of quality games.
- Powerful machine that results in graphics comparable to the Playstation 3.
- Wireless Controller (All current consoles have this feature).
- Xbox live is currently the best online gaming system and community.
- Downloadable content for games and videos (HD Movies and TV Shows).
- It comes with a hard drive to store your downloads. This model has 20GB (120GB version is available).
- 3yr warranty.

Cons:
- There is a design flaw in the console that causes it to generate alot of heat and it has broken so many consoles that Microsoft ultimately changed the warranty from 90days to 3yrs. While the newer consoles have smaller chips that lead to less heat, there are still reports of the dreadful RROD (Red rings of death). Basically if your console bricks, you just need to go through the painful process of sending it to Microsoft and get it fixed.
- It has a built-in DVD drive which is old technology. Blu-ray and HD-DVD are next-gen disc technology. Using DVDs (4.7GB) sets a limitation to game developers on how much they can fit on a disc. Playstation 3 comes with a built-in Blu-ray drive which allows you to play movies in 1080p. Xbox360 does allow you to have a HD-DVD drive as an addon that can only play movies. HD-DVD is also 1080p but the majority of movie companies are going to Blu-ray.
- No wireless. Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii have wireless built-in. You would need to pay for a xbox360 wireless adapter ($100).
- Hard drive (20GB) is too small and the upgradeable 120GB is way too expensive ($180). Microsoft came out with their own form factor for the hard drives. Playstation 3 on the other hand allows you to buy any 2.5" hard drive (which is significantly cheaper) and replace it.

Tips:
- Keep your console in a ventilated area.
- Make sure you do not put the console and the power supply (the brick) on carpet.
- Set your xbox360 horizontally. There are vents on the bottom and this position allows it to cool better. There have been reports of scratched discs when it is set vertically.
- Do not buy the NYKO xbox 360 Intercooler. It can melt onto the xbox 360 and damage the power supply.

I bought this console as a presente for my son; but it failed after 2 months. All the light went on red and it did not work any more. I feel unhappy; because this product is not the kind of equipment you spect to fail so soon. Also I wasted the money I spent for this console. I wish microsoft could help me

Customer Review: Fantastic and reliable
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the 360 for almost a year now. No issues. Great reliability with xbox live when my router is configured for open NAT. Halo 3 never freezes. The dvd player is loud during game play but is pretty quiet when watching movies. Wireless is durable with no issues of interference.

Customer Review: I wanted a game system, and that's what i got!
Summary: 5 Stars

First off I'm not going to make a this huge technical comparison to the PS3, mainly because I don't own a PS3 and could give a crap about the geek crap about one game system having this or that gismo that the other one does not. I have had my X-Box for about 5 months and it's worked great, great looking, awesome features and everything i wanted in a game system. I don't even play online and it's still an awesome system.

At the time It was way cheaper ( and still is) than the PS3 and has a ton more games. I can't get Halo 3, Gears of War or Bioshock on PS3 and for that reason alone I like the X-box system better. I could give two craps about blue ray vs. HD-DVD, I wanted a game system to play games, fun games and lots of them. Yeah, it's cool to have a blue ray player with your PS3, that's pretty cool but don't act like your not paying for it. If I really need HD, then I'll go get it. By this time next year blue ray and HD DVD player will be half the price they are now, just you watch. If your like me and are just wanting the best games then you go 360...period, end of discussion. If you wanna get into the tech crap about this chip vs this processor then I guess go knock yourself out.

I've played PS3 a few times and I won't say it's a bad system with bad games, but the games that they have for just that system are far from great. I just know for a fact that the 360 has tons of games, some that are down right awesome and the system itself is worth every penny. I don't need 80 gigs for music and movies, I have a computer. I mean, how can you argue, 360 has more games, true, the 360 has better games, true, the 360 has a better online community in x-box live...very true. I'm sure the PS3 is fun but I'm hardly missing out having a 360.

Customer Review: Red Ring of Death!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I read about the "red ring of death" hardware failure in Game Informer. I never really thought twice about it. About a month later it appears on my Xbox 360. I couldn't believe it! Upon further research I discovered this problem is so common with this console that Microsoft was forced to extend the warranty from 90 days to 3 years. This is cool and all but it goes to show you right there that this console has MAJOR issues with stability. So I lose my Xbox 360 for about 3 weeks as I wait for the box they sent me to come, send it out, and wait for it to come back. 10 days after receiving my "repaired" console back, after only playing it 3 times in the 10 day period, there are the red rings again flashing! Now I'm flaming mad! I called support and they apologize and told me that I need to send it back, and this time I'll get a different console back rather than the same "repaired" one. I would think twice about buying this console.
