Video Game Reviews of Xbox 360 Pro 60GB Console

Customer Review: This is Microsoft's best work
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this 4 years ago and have been playing it practically every day since, usually I don't get Microsoft, (Apple all the way), but this was amazing! it has everything, a dvd player, the best online gamer I've ever seen, play music, and more. It also comes with an arcade which is very fun and I use frequently it also has very good cooperative play, pretty much anything you could ever want from a gaming console in one. It also has Netflix connection so you can watch pretty much anything you want from your xbox.

Customer Review: STAY AWAY
Summary: 1 Stars

Hello everyone, first of all let me start by saying that I do not have this piece of garbage, thank god, then why am I giving it a review, well here is the reason, and I hope it helps.

I am the owner of a MAIL BOXES ETC. franchise and as you may know we handle a variety of shipping services such as UPS and Fedex, so everyday a lot of packages come in and out of the store, but the ones that come every single day are the return for service xbox 360 system.

In a regular week people come in and send their junk, I mean XBOX, to get fixed and they do it with the return service Microsoft offers, so they don't have to pay anything, after all, they already got robbed with the system, and as I was telling you, in a week we get around 20 to 30 systems to send back, and some people come back to resend the one they already got fixed about 2 or 3 times after the first service. So I have asked people what is the problem with their Xbox, some have told me that I just stop running, others that it burned up after a few hours of game play and my favorite, after having it for 2 months the image is white and black.

What I am traying to say is that do not waste you hard earned cash in junk, get a PS2 OR PS3, if it is in your budget, and enjoy with out the worry of having to get your system fixed after 5 minutes of play time, I have had my ps2 since 2001 and still works great, as my PS3 wich I have had for a year and a half now, and now problems at all even afater 10 hours of play time.

So In conclusion stay away form the xbox AT ALL COST!!!!!

Customer Review: Xbox 360 Pro 60GB Console
Summary: 3 Stars

Microsoft's ever so wonderful 360... I had purchased this console back in Nov. of '07 and in the beginning it was excellent. It did everything it was suppose to do and more. Now a little over a year and a half later it has gone back in the shop for a second time. I did get the red rings of death... sent it in and had it fixed at no cost to me, which was nice... now the issue is the Xbox 360 is unable to read discs anymore. Now I am not talking about scratched up or abused discs, I am talking about almost perfect to new discs. It just will not play games and it takes forever for the dashboard to even show up. I understand that electronics go bad at times but really? This is what we have to look forward to every time the "next gen" of video game entertainment comes out? I would actually wait longer if they could work out all the bugs so I would not have to deal with these kind of issues. Luckily I have the Wii(no issues there yet) and I also have the PS3(again no issues as of yet). Hopefully Microsoft will have learned from their mistakes and fix them.

Customer Review: great games
Summary: 5 Stars

Lots of great games. 360 has more games, and higher rated games than PS3. Id recommend 360 for those who are looking for a games machine more than a movie watching device.

Customer Review: Failure Rate
Summary: 1 Stars

I was thinking of buying an Xbox360 but found this article on [...] I think I will get something more reliable.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has an overall first-time hardware failure rate of 54.2 percent among its readers -- that's according to a report by print magazine Game Informer in its latest issue.

The magazine drew its conclusions from a readership sample of 5,000. The failure rate, which specifically refers to the number of console owners who have had at least one defective Xbox 360, was several times higher than that of either major competitor. Only 10.6 percent of PlayStation 3 owners reported a failure, while just 6.8 percent of Wii owners reported one.

Of those Xbox 360 owners with defective consoles, 41.2 percent were said to have at least one replacement console fail as well. Still, a mere 3.8 percent said they would refuse to buy a new one as a result.

Based on the reported gaming habits of its readership -- 40.3 percent (the largest group) of Game Informer's sample said they play their Xbox 360 consoles for three to five hours per day.

About the same percent (also the largest group in this case) said they play their Wii consoles for fewer than three hours a day -- the magazine speculated that one reason for the particularly low Wii failure rate is simply less usage.

(Those patterns are somewhat corroborated by recent Nielsen research, which states that Wii is the least-used console amongst "active users.")

In the past, Microsoft has claimed its console's failure rate is only around a few percent, within the range of most consumer electronics products. Still, the company has taken a number of steps to increase its technical support and warranty coverage to combat complaints.

Outside estimates of the statistic have been widely variable. Few outlets, however, have been able to point to specifically-sourced data with a considerable sample size as in Game Informer's survey.

When contacted by Gamasutra on the matter, Microsoft responded with the following statement:

"Microsoft stands behind the Xbox 360 as a superior entertainment console with one of the best warranties in the industry. We are constantly improving the design, manufacture and performance of the console through extensive testing of potential sources of any problems. Xbox 360 is pleased to maintain the title of "most played console" and the vast majority of Xbox 360 customers have enjoyed a terrific gaming and entertainment experience since their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. Any Xbox 360 owners experiencing issues with their console should contact Microsoft for repairs or troubleshooting tips at [...] support or 1-800-4-MY-XBOX."
