I bought this about a week ago. I got it off ebay with a bunch of movies at a really good deal. I purchased this player because i was worried about wear and tear on my 360's drive. It is much quieter than the 360 also, something that was very distracting while watching movies on the 360. Take advantage of this while it's still around. Hd dvds are awesome and dvd's look better with the up-converting. The included remote is very handy too.Customer Review: Great but now Outdated

Unfortunately, I bought this for $200 when I thought HD was going to win. But, I still love my little HD player. It is quiet and plays with crystal clarity. The ease of starting this thing up is notable.
I invested alot into mine and love it, but Blue Ray won. Those who want high definition movies on their Xbox will have to download off the market or just shoot off $60 for this and accept that it is dead technology. Either way, I still love watching Batman Begins, The Departed, and Serenity is high definition.

Even if you don't watch HD-DVD, and at this point don't want to invest in a collection of obsolete plastic and foil, get this drive! You can plug it into any PC, Mac, or Linux box for a great external USB DVD drive (this has saved me hours of tech support). You can also, over course, watch HDDVD's if you have the right software, but you'll not find such a handy drive at such a price any time soon. I love this product. I would have wanted to know if this came in black before I purchased it because soon I will be getting an 360 elite. I wish I would've known that HD DVD will soon be obselete,but that is fine because I am going to load up on HD DVD's before they are stopped being produced. I like the fact that this player automatically upconverts all your regular dvd's to an 1080i resolution if you have a hi-def tv. It also looks pretty and at home sitting with my 360,and I like the idea of having the choice now of either to play my 360 or if I am in the mood to watch a dvd or HD DVD. This product works great,it makes all my movies crystal clear-especially the HD DVD's,and it really works and really makes a big difference. You cannot really tell the difference of hd dvd or blu-ray but you can notice certain quality's with the hd dvd player which makes it look a little better and to know that it has a few things that makes it unique. Hopefully microsoft will continue the use of HD DVD!
