Video Game Reviews of SceneIt? Includes 4 Big Button GamePadsCustomer Review: Some big mistakes were made Summary: 2 StarsWhile this game may be fun, its only good if you have people around who like movies. If not, you won't get much use out of this game. You can't play this online as there are no Xbox Live capabilities.
There are two more problems with this game that kill it for me that could have and should have been considered before this product was released:
1. The controllers use infra-red, which means they need to point at your console to work. This doesn't work if your console is behind you as you look at a projected image on a screen in front of you.
2. For me the most annoying mistake: The game dvd itself comes in a cheap dvd thin case. It isn't a standard green Xbox 360 game case with standard Xbox 360 packaging, so if you want to add it to the collection of games on your shelf, it won't fit in. If you are a collector that cares about this, avoid the 360 version of Scene It and get the DVD version instead. Why didn't they get this right? This tells me they were cutting corners to try to save a few pennies.. When I buy an Xbox 360 game, at the very least I expect it to come in an Xbox 360 game case.
Customer Review: Awesome game for two or for party night! Summary: 5 StarsThis game is awesome!! I bought it for my finacee for Christmas and we play it all the time. We like to challenge each other. It's perfect for two people or a party of people. I would recommend it to anyone that likes games that challenge you and want something diffferent than a regular board game or video game.
Customer Review: Great game to play with your Girlfriend! Summary: 5 StarsAfter cementing her spot as the best girlfriend ever by getting me an XBox 360 for our anniversary, she quickly realized it wasn't the interactive gift that perhaps the Wii might have been. Long hours of me on the couch playing Halo 3 didn't really appeal to her. A trip to GameStop to ask them what they would consider "the mario kart of the xbox 360" (her fav game in college) resulted in my picking up "Burnout" - a hyperactive driving game with mega crashes that appeal to the 16 year old boy in me, but again had no appeal for her. It was starting to look like a lost cause....ENTER SCENE IT!
This game is a RIOT! For $60 you get the game and 4 controllers - a bargain and great for 'couples' game nights...I know, I sound really lame saying that, but it's true. It's also great for drinking beers with the guys, too. It's a much more interactive experience than the board game version and the way it learns and remembers your playing history is great. I have played several multi-hour sessions and have only seen a handful of repeat questions or puzzles. Being a film fan, I can also say that the game goes 'deep' without become too 'obscure'. There are some great references for all you Lebowski fans out there.
Pick this one up, it's a classic. They could make a billion dollars by making this its own standalone console platform with different trivia games and the wireless controllers.
Customer Review: Good solid fun for movie fans Summary: 4 StarsThis is a fun game that most people can pick up and play right off the bat. We played it a number of times over the holidays, and maybe only saw one or two questions a second time, so the fact that it tracks the questions you've seen is really nice, allowing first timers to be on equal footing with those who play more often. And including the buzzers with the game was a brilliant move, since many of the people we played with would've been lost with a standard Xbox 360 controller.
A few features I hope they add in later on:
Telling you before you begin a new category whether it's a buzz in, or a multiple choice
A scoreboard, so you can see who the top scorers have been
The ability to choose which categories to play or not play during a session
But if you've got a group of movie fans together, then this is a great party game.
Customer Review: If you're tired of shooters..... Summary: 5 StarsWe own a ton of first-person shooters (like BioShock, Halo 3, Gears of War), which were really popular in 2007. This is a great change of pace. The unique controllers are easy to grip and the gameplay is easy to understand for young and old alike. I agree with the other reviewers; I'm hoping for downloadable content to update with new puzzles & games.
If you are looking for a good family game or just a change of piece of shooting aliens, this game is great for you.
