Customer Review: Good product but with inconsistent quality

I have owned three of such dance pads and purchased them separately overtime. The first pad was nicely built, very easy to assemble. All I had to was to piece the foam puzzles together, zip the cover, and it just works like a charm. It is heavier so it holds on the ground better. It is soft and provides good feedback. It is definitely a huge upgrade from the mat bundled with the game.
I gave the first mat to my parents, and I missed it so well so I decided to get another one a few months later. The 2nd one was a trip to assemble, it took me a good while to zip the cover. After a few uses, the zipper just broke. I thought it was my problem not assembling it well, so I got the third one. This time I was extremely careful, and I barely got the pad together. The end result was far worse than the first one. The foams are uneven, and could never be flattened no matter how I rearranged them. For whatever reason, the pad has become not as responsive, so sometimes some beats were either missed or delayed.
I start to suspect that this has to do with the inconsistent quality of the foam, which has caused the bloated size in my 2nd pad, and the uneven surface in my 3rd pad.
Overall I cannot say it is a bad product, I still love the pad as long as it has the quality no less than the 1st one I got.
