Video Game Reviews of Lego Star Wars: The Complete SagaCustomer Review: Fun Game! Summary: 4 StarsI bought this for my 9 year old daughter for her birthday and she absolutely loves it! We love playing this one together. There are comic moments that we both laugh at in the game. If you're a Star Wars fan and are looking for a game that anyone in the family can play, get this.
Customer Review: Poor use of the Star Wars License Summary: 1 StarsFirst Off I am a big fan of Star Wars, and have always loved Legos. So how could I not love the idea of mixing Star Wars with Legos, right? WRONG! This game is horrible on so many levels!
First, I have to admit to being shocked that any grown adult would find this even remotely entertaining. And like I said, I love anything that has the stink of Star Wars on it.
The Good--
There are times when it is very funny seeing cutscenes done using Legos. Just imagine some of your favorite scenes of the Saga reenacted with Legos, often times these scenes are funny the first time through. There is a certain humor when a starship or a droid blows up, only to be blown into the Lego bits the toy would be made out of in real life.
There is a lot of variety in the characters
This should be both a pro and con. Yes, there are a lot of charcaters in the game, but they are all the same! Sure, there are dozens of heads and bodies you can put together but they end up fighting the same way. If they hold a blaster, they shoot at everything in the environment non stop. If they have a lightsaber they can swing away non-stop, and use a force push on bad guys. And droids move around opening doors and using things. That is it. Seriously.
The Bad--
The bad elements certainly outnumber the good. Even though it is the Star Wars universe, you aren't actually doing anything. Yes, the Legos reenact scenes from the movies. But it goes like this: If you are guiding Qui-Gon through the space port on Tatooine you see many alien and droid legos walking by that are just there for flavor. Attack droids keep popping out of the wood work and all you do is run around slashing at everything. Most of the environments can be destroyed. When you destroy an item it breaks into little lego pieces which you pick up to earn things. So you run around destroying everyting in your way (by this I mean just rapidly smashing the attack button) and picking up the pieces. That is it. The game is mapped out with you running from point A to point B in each level smashing everything you can see. At first the novelty is fun and cute until you realize that is all it is: a novelty!
I am shocked at the number of people that seem to enjoy these games. I will admit they are good for little kids in the 5-10 yr range because it is something that will hold their interest and yet not be too difficult.
I am even more sadened to see that we now have Lego Indianna Jones and Lego Batman. What a marketing ploy....
Customer Review: A Great Game for Everyone Summary: 5 StarsThis game was awesome!!! It includes episodes IV, V and VI, from the Lego Star wars II game, and the new episodes I, II and III. This game can be played by all ages. I'm 17 and I love this game. I'll play it with my younger brother who's 11 and we'll have a ball playing this game. It is very addicting because once you beat one level you have to just keep on going.
It's a lot of fun collecting the studs and buying your characters. I ended up buying the Lego star wars guide book, but it had a few typos in the beginning. It was missing where to find a minikit, but I found it so you could too.
This is a great game and I would recommend this to anyone.
Customer Review: lego star wars Summary: 4 StarsNot so much fun for adults but your kids will enjoy this little number for months to come
Customer Review: A great Star Wars game! Summary: 4 StarsI have not played a really good Star Wars game since the one for the N64 many, many years ago. I will now have to add Lego Star Wars to the small list of great Star Wars games.
First and foremost, this is a fun game which I would almost think is not for the real, real hard-core gamer. If you only like GTA or God of War, this might not be for you but if you like a bit of silly in your games this is one to look at. It is also a good game if you want something to play with your kids or other younglings. The violence is very cartoony but you still have Lego heads rolling around so you still get gore, be it plastic gore.
The game play is pretty straight forward...controls are easy to learn. Lots of stuff to unlock which makes for repeating levels and thus extended game play adding to your gaming dollar value. True, when all is unlocked and all levels are completed I will probably never touch this game again but in 4 months of casual gaming I have only about 19% of the game completed.
As an added bonus, many of the cut-scenes range from cute to really funny. I am not sure if I really like this because of the Lego or Star Wars aspect. I guess it is the perfect combination of the two. Hopefully with Lego Indy and Batman coming out, they same creativity and humor will be used to make those two games as enjoyable as this.
The one down side I have found is 'peg grinding' for lack of a better term. You earn pegs of various values with which you can buy / unlock items. There are many places where the pegs are free but you have to spend quite a bit of time chopping and breaking a lot of things to get the pegs. Basically, I spend the first 15 minutes after logging in 'peg grinding' to maximize my unlockables. It is not that you must do this but I cannot imagine how long it would take to unlock a lot of the stuff if you did not take advantage of these pegs...it just wastes time which I find to be a bit of a downer.
So, take this 4/5 as a really good review. I am not even sure what a 5 might be so I am saving it for the game or item that changes my life. In all this is a very good game. I am very selective about 360 games as I prefer the Wii but I had to have this for the 360.
