Customer Review: Drum set is great; ION Audio is NOT Summary: 4 StarsI am very happy with this product. It works great (the parts that I was able to assemble) and is a lot of fun to play. However, when I first received the product, I could not complete the assembly because one of the drum pads lock nut was broken and it could not be attached to the unit. I contacted ION Audio and they had me ship in my drum pad to be fixed. I thought "Wow, this is great they are going to help!" I was so wrong!! I sent in the drum pad on Dec. 29, 2008; it is now February 18, 2009, I still have not gotten my drum pad back, nor can I get anyone in ION's customer service department to give me a straight answer. On January 22, 2009, I was told that I should have it back by February 5th - well, that didn't happen. So, for now, I am still waiting on their customer service.
I highly recommend the drum set, just not the drum set manufacturer.
Customer Review: Best Gamer Drum kit available Summary: 5 StarsWe have been playing Rock band for a few months now, so when I showed my wife the Ion drum kit she said she wanted it. We got it yesterday. After setting everything up she started playing and all I can say is this set is incredible. No more loud banging sound when you hit the pads or the cymbals and no more missed notes. We have to make some final adjustments on the placement of the pads and cymbals but other than that this was a great purchase. She is on cloud nine with this set.
I can definitely say if you have the regular drum kit, get rid of it and get the Ion set. Ours is the one for the PS3.
Rock on.........
Customer Review: A Remarkable Step Up Summary: 4 StarsOverall, I have been very pleased with the response of the kit.
As a real drummer, I could not deal with the plastic toy effect and the cramped feeling I had playing the original RB game drums. I had considered modifying my existing accoustics to play, but this popped up as an alternative.
My personal recommendation is to immediately replace the bass pedal with either a proper pedal / beater / kickbox or aftermarket replacement like the rock pedal, along with the cymbals with pintech or alesis. The quality of both these items included in the kit, is reduced quality, and although can take a beating will give up the ghost with hard play.
The pads and flexbiility to customize the drumset is exactly what shoud be expected from an entry level electronic drum kit.
Once I purchased the optional Alesis DM5 Drum Module, the kit really does shine. The pads remain highly responsive under fast 1/32 drum rolls.
Noise level is substantially less than the orginal RB and RB2 kits, along with being much sturdier overall. However, I anticipate some of the plastic sleeves and components will need to replace in time.
Add a few extra components and you'll be ready to take the stage.
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY - Pedal will break Summary: 1 StarsIt is definitely false advertising when they write "all metal pedal." It's all metal on the outside, but the tab on the inside that triggers the drum beat is plastic. And guess what - it will break.
Read the other reviews. If your kit breaks, ION will not provide any customer service. I've been waiting over two weeks for a response and nothing.
I bought the drums and the pedal broke a month later. Whoever buys this kit will be playing Rockband at a "more skilled" level, so you would think ION would anticipate this and fix the issue. Obviously, this hasn't happened.
I'm not sure if anyone will want to spend $300 for a kit that when it breaks, you have to go buy a new one.
