Customer Review: Good game, but could be better
Summary: 4 Stars
Blood Omen 2 is a good game overall, which is hard to find these days. The story is intriguing and the characters are interesting. Let's break this game down:
GRAPHICS: I give the graphics 3 out of 5 because I don't believe the graphics are to the standard we expect of an X BOX game. The graphics don't look much different than the PSX.
CONTROLS: I give the controls 3 out of 5 because the controls are easy to master; however, even with your gained powers throughout the game you can't do much. You continue to hack and slash the same way throughout the game all the way to the end. Also, it is difficult at times to fight several enemies or enemies with armor as they have special attacks they use frequently that you can not block and in some cases can't dodge.
FUN FACTOR: I give the fun factor 4 out of 5 as I believe the game is still fun to play despite the discrepancies within the game. The story line is almost enough to keep you interested. Additionally, you have to use your head as most levels contain puzzles you have to solve in order to open a door or destroy an enemy. It is not your typical hack and slash game.
I gave this game a four star rating because I have enjoyed playing this game despite the discrepancies. I like the fact that you gain additional powers throughout the game. For example with the mist power, you can sneak up to enemies and conduct a stealth kill. If you are looking for a good game that is somewhat challenging and you like the Legacy of Kain series this may be a good game for you; however, if you get frustrated easily this may not be a good choice as the controls and moves are a bit cumbersome.
Description of Blood Omen 2
The fourth installment in the Legacy of Kain series is a 3rd person 3D action/combat game in which you assume the role of the vampire Kain.You are the vampire Kain, the most evil figure ever to appear in a video game. Cloaked in stealth, you will move through crowds unseen, travel stories above the peasant herds on which you feed--leaping from rooftop to rooftop--and use mind control to overcome vampire-proof inventions. The combat choreography in Blood Omen 2 unfolds with dancelike precision as Kain engages armies of demons and humans alike. The comprehensive menu of unstoppable attacks, nimble combos, and special moves are designed to appeal to even the most jaded of fighting game fans. The world that Kain moves through is a lushly detailed gothic environment that is not only gorgeous to the eye, but also alive with the soon-to-be-dead. The AI behavioral response makes peasants and enemies variously flee, take up arms, or remain unaware as Kain moves through crowds or charges, sword raised, into open areas.
