Video Game Reviews of Guitar Hero AerosmithCustomer Review: Fun Game, but not challenging Summary: 2 StarsI typically play at the medium level as I get more acquainted with the hard setting. But its all relative song to song. I happen to get this game used and heavily discounted so it seemed like a good deal. After playing it, which took a few hours to complete, I was dissatisfied for a few reasons.
First - ALL of the songs seemed way too easy. Even for me. I am sure I could do this game on the hard mode. But I felt like the song choices and the charting were either over simplified, or the songs were just no engaging enough to really "feel" the guitar playing.
Second - Aerosmith plays as the main band while a few other bands are the "warm up" band at each segment. While this is cool and places Aerosmith at the spotlight, even their songs were not challenging. Many of the Aerosmith songs were questionable as far as the choices concerned, and I believe none of them are album edits, but RH versions. Maybe Aeorsmith fiddled with some of it to add into the game. I was not thrilled by it.
Third - The "note highway", when Aerosmith plays, is littered with some logo that really distracts your seeing the notes clearly, especially the yellow note. That s my major annoyance by this game.
Fourth - Including Run DMC - whom I felt was actually the hardest song of the game, was also included in the 'Walk This Way' version. Why they decided to give Run DMC props in a game dedicated to Aerosmith is almost insulting,
Overall, it was not the best RH game out, but fun to include in your library if you have the rest. For band oriented RH games, I would go with Metallica. Otherwise, if you find this cheap (cheaper than rental), then I would grab it.
