Video Game Reviews of Guitar Hero 2 Bundle with GuitarCustomer Review: Rock on, baby! Summary: 5 StarsIf you're not into shooter-type games (and therefore not into Halo 3 on the Xbox 360), then this game is the best reason to buy an Xbox 360.
Love love love this game. Even my wife, who is so NOT a gamer, likes watching me play.
Rock 'n' Roll is dead? I don't think so ...
Customer Review: Buy it and don't make plans for a week. Summary: 5 StarsI was very skeptical about the Guitar Hero franchise when I first noticed the first PS2 title on store shelves. Being a guitarist myself, I felt a bit of snobbery toward the title. But after the second game released, the hype built up to the point of hysteria; friends and family members were urging me to try it out.
What an amazingly refreshing and addictive rhythm game. To me, the game wasn't really all that fun until I started playing on the Hard difficulty level. Only at that point do you have to use all 5 fret buttons and have to worry about moving around on the fretboard. The use of hammer-ons and pull-offs become absolutely essential to your success. The songs are just not beatable without this technique. And most importantly, it finally starts feeling a bit like playing guitar. On Easy and Medium, the game feels bit too much like finger-DDR or Simon.
Gameplay is thrilling and fast-paced. Nailing down hair-raising solos perfectly is a great feeling, especially on expert. And nothing quite beats the feeling of the first time you beat Freebird on Expert. It took me quite some time to be able to get that point. The only detraction to the gameplay is the strumming. I find the strumming to be rather unnatural and often exhausting. It often requires way too much frantic motion to keep up with the fast paced rhythms of some strumming sections, and the controller fails to emulate the natural feel of strumming on a guitar. Maybe I haven't practiced enough to get used to it, but I don't find myself getting through the demanding strumming portions very reliably. It's rather ironic that I find the blistering solos to be easier than strumming, which is typically a bit easier.
In any case, the Xbox 360 version offers unique features not available on PS2, including high-resolution graphics (the PS2 is an absolute eyesore in comparison), achievements, and online leaderboards. Definitely well-worth the extra $10 in comparison to the PS2 version, if you have a 360.
So don't hesitate to get this amazing game and shred away to your heart's content!
Customer Review: This is the BGEC (Best Game Ever Created) Summary: 5 Starsi first played this game when it was only out on PS2 and then considered bying a PS2 just to play the game. when i heard it was comming out on the 36 i rushed to pre-order it. the graphics are incredible, the songs are awsome, and it is not a game you can just fly through in a week. i first beat the game on medium, then hard, and just recently beat every song on expert unlocking the battle ax guitar. this game gets me to the point where i will have parties just to play this game with all my friends. i strongly reccomend getting two guitars because the multi-player feature in great and many acheivments can not be unlocked unless you have two people. if you cant get two guitaras you can use a regular xbox 360 controller but it is much harder and not nearly as fun. by the way... my name is Derek Donahou not eden, shes my mom and i used her account to reveiw this. thats just how amazing this game is!
Customer Review: Lots of Fun Summary: 5 StarsI resisted getting this game after reading about problems with the update and also problems with the Guitar. I'm not sure if they just re-released the patched version or what .. but I didn't have to update the game. So far I've been very pleased with the game .. it is a LOT of fun. It's seriously addictive. I do not like games where you just KNOW that you'll never master no matter how much time you spend on them .. GH (to me) is not one of those games. Everytime I try a song that I have difficulty with I get better and better at it. If you're really having trouble you can practice the song at a slower pace to get the notes down. The game gives you every opportunity to succeed .. and I like that.
Customer Review: rock on Summary: 5 StarsThe game is pretty fun takes a little practice to get good at the songs. Microsoft should put some free songs to download would be more interesting.
