I'm nine and have been playing Oblivion for about 2 years. I LOVE IT. It never gets old. I am right now a level 16. It's fun because it is a HUGE game with an entire world to explore and seasons. It doesn't force you from area to area, you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. You have lots of options in gameplay, can pick up a quest, do it or don't, come back to it. The aromor is awesome, the scenery is great, the interaction and voices are fun and don't get boring. My brother is great at gaming and has been playing a long time and is at level 53 so we have no idea how high you can get my char is a journeyman at swords.
I think this game would be good for ages 8 and up. Great for someone who likes role play, medieval times, castles or questing. Also, great downloads available. This game also comes in a PC version which is more customizable and cheat codes.
If you are still not sure, youtube has lots of videos of people playing Oblivion XBOX and PC.
