Video Game Reviews of BioShock

Customer Review: Really creepy and fun
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really fun and unique game. It has a great mix of retro-futuristic sights and sounds crossed with lots of nightmarish imagery and scenarios. It's not scary like a Resident Evil or Silent Hill game, but it still has plenty of creep factor.

Customer Review: For $30, Its a steal !!
Summary: 5 Stars

This game has amazing graphics and a very interesting, creative and different (not what I'm used to) story line but I gotta say its not for the faint of heart. The graphics are so good that the creepiness of the game is a step above what its suppose to be. Still, its definitely a gamers must have and for 30 dollars...just buy it! I Loved it!

Customer Review: Late to the game...
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit, having just solved Bioshock, I'm way late. 1000000 people been me to the punch on the game and the reviews...generally, when tons of folks get all insane-in-the-brain about a game, such universal appeal tells me all I need to know about said game: its probably dumbed-down, pop-culture junk.

Boy I was wrong about Bioshock. Its a testament to its originality (and, unfortunately to the cookie-cutter nature of a lot of the games out there today) that makes Bioshock unlike anything ever created. I was deeply affected and moved by the imagery, a "Sky Captain and the World of Tommorow" meets an Art-Deco Ayn Rand nightmare gone far off the edge of sanity. The attention to detail is hard to verbalize, because so much effort clearly went into it, its quite an anomoly in today's gaming world. There is an old game for 80's-era systems called "Rocket Ranger", and this has that type of style, but with absolutely no kitsche whatsoever. This is a serious, mature themed game. Despite the semi-cartoony Big Daddy on the cover (which you find out quickly are anything but cartoons), this game is about as adult as it gets, and the themes are probably unable to be appreciated by the young anyway.

Nightmarish, eerie, and dark as dark gets, Bioshock is a comprehensive game, from the shadows of the cooridors, to the great ambient surround sounds that scare the heck out of you (no game thus far, I think, uses surround sound this effectively), to the period music, this game is 100% well thought out and executed. If every game on the market was like this, this immersive experience, the gaming industry would be in a better place than it is right now...but, just the fact a game like Bioshock exists gives me hope that what gaming is all about, entertainment, experience, and escapism, is headed in the right direction. I cannot recommend this game more.

Customer Review: My favorite video game of all time
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not a huge fan of video games. I simply don't have the spare time needed to get into them. However, Bioshock was one of those games that I just couldn't stop playing. It wasn't just about me wanting to beat the game; it was about actually having fun each and every time I've played it.

I stayed up late a night playing this game, caring little about whether or not I ever beat it. In fact, when I finally did beat the game, the ending sort of came as a surprise and a bummer (only because I was hoping it would never end). And so after that, I started a new game and wondered if there would be a Bioshock 2 (this was a long time ago).

The story of Bioshock is awesome. I'm a fan of books and keep thinking that a Bioshock book series would be awesome. The story of an underwater city as well as the struggles for power is fascinating. Make no mistake about it; Bioshock is very brutal and spooky. It's like watching a horror movie (one that is actually scary) each and every time you play the game. I don't normally get my kicks off of shooter games. And so, the storyline is the most important part of the game for me.

Though you have little choice but to gun down zombie-like people in Rapture, you can choose to rescue the little sisters. You can harvest them in order to make your game easier, but you can also suffer a little by doing the right thing (depending on what your view is on that). Your choice will also affect the ending of the game.

I would be willing to stand in line will all the other geeks the night Bioshock 2 is released. No doubt about it.

Customer Review: A feast of immersive gaming goodness
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is amazing. Every single environment in the game has been rendered with the most loving attention to detail. Enemies can be tackled using a huge variety of weapons, abilities, or even objects in the environment. It is also a rather long game for a first person shooter. I've clocked over 20 hours on a single playthrough. Definitely worth the price of admission.
